CATEGORY:X
Live attenuated virus vaccine.
Mumps virus has been been recovered from the placenta , but
not from the fetal tissues of three susceptible pregnant women who were
vaccinated before undergoing elective abortions. However, the sample size is
too small to rule out the possibility of fetal mumps infection after
vaccination with mumps live attenuated virus [1]. The vaccine is
considered to be contraindicated in pregnancy by the American College of
Obstetricians and Gynecologists [2]. Avoid becoming pregnant for 30
days after vaccination with mumps containing vaccines [3] BREAST FEEDING: Compatible [4,5].
